Lit Select’s What Went Wrong?<\/em> (Legendary Stories #1)<\/h1>\n

15 Sci-Fi and Fantasy Tales<\/h2>\n

I wrote “To Serve and Protect” a few years back, but could not find a magazine or an anthology that would accept it. It wasn’t a reflection on my writing, rather a reflection on the story’s length. The word count on “To Serve and Protect” is short of being a true short story, so all my publishing queries came back as does not meet the publisher’s requirement.<\/p>\n

Last month I was searching open submission calls for shorts, when I came upon Lit Select’s call for an upcoming anthology entitled What Went Wrong? (Legendary Stories #1)<\/em> As I read the submission word minimum, I once again saw I was short on the word count. However, I felt strongly that it was the perfect place for “To Serve and Protect,” so I sent Lit Select a query. I was very happy to receive a reply that they wanted to read the piece, and elated when the email came to say it had been selected to be included in the upcoming anthology.<\/p>\n

“To Serve and Protect”: A sole survivor travels by car across country in hopes of finding someone else alive, but his blatant disregard for the laws of man proves to have disastrous consequences.<\/h4>\n

Everyone\u2019s had THAT<\/em> day\u2014the one where a spell went south, a glitch ate some code in the doomsday device, and aliens are on the move eat your brains. Okay, maybe we haven’t all had that day. In What Went Wrong?<\/em>, fifteen authors give us stories of the best laid plans gone awry.<\/p>\n
